Bill Hill
If you are inquisitive, conscientious and "hungry to
learn", Dr. Bill Hill wants to be your professor! Dr.
Hill is currently the Senior Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
at UNC Charlotte. He came to UNC Charlotte in 1982 to become
a Communication Studies professor and a debate team coach.
Before coming to Charlotte, he earned a BA at
Appalachian State University, an MA at Wake Forest University
and a Ph.D. from Florida State University. A little known
fact about Dr. Hill is that he also was a professional Roller
Derby star in the 1970's.
Why did Dr. Hill choose UNC Charlotte? He said that the University
had great faculty and unique opportunities for students to
challenge themselves and grow. Dr. Hill noted that the best
learning environment for students comes from taking advantage
of the opportunity to interact with professors.
Faculty interaction is only one of the main tools for student
success. Dr. Hill advises new freshmen to use the Learning
Center, Writing Resource Center and the Advising Center during
their first year to ease their transition from high school
to college.
But, what can a high school student do now to ensure success
in college? Dr. Hill says "take advantage of what your
high school has to offer. Get involved! You are better equipped
for success in college if you take high school seriously".
Dr. Bill Hill is a great example of the talented and caring
faculty UNC Charlotte has to offer.
