Kimberly Buch

Associate Professor Kimberly Buch joined UNC Charlotte's Department of Psychology in 1987. She received her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Iowa State University. Her areas of expertise include individual and team development and organizational change. Besides teaching organizational psychology classes, she is the co-coordinator of the Psychology Learning Community (PLC) and teaches the freshman seminar for psychology majors.

Buch is involved in a wide array of undergraduate teaching and learning initiatives. She recently developed a study abroad summer program at Kingston University in London, which focuses on international service learning. She is an active proponent of service learning, and incorporates service learning experiences into the PLC and teaches the Citizenship and Service Practicum. She has applied technology to teaching using live interactive video conferencing and teaches on-line courses for the distance education degree program in fire safety. She has recently joined the University Career Center staff in developing and teaching a course on career planning and development. In order to assist other teachers, she has published and made professional presentations in all of these areas. Buch also has been successful in seeking external funding to support teaching innovations, curriculum development, and learning assessment. She has received grants from the National Science Foundation and Proctor and Gamble.

Buch is also involved in diversity initiatives on campus, and recently chaired a committee charged with the development of a comprehensive campus diversity plan. Her record of student supervision and mentoring includes chairing over 50 thesis committees and involving students in research that has resulted in more than 40 jointly authored publications.
