Second Degree Admission Requirements

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Second Bachelor's Degree seeking applicants are individuals who have earned the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's Degree from an regionally accredited college or university either in the U.S. or abroad.

Second Degree Admission Requirements

Second Bachelor's Degree students will need to submit the following to be reviewed for admission at UNC Charlotte.

1. Application and Application Fee of $60

2. Proof of English ability. Students may prove their ability with:

  • U.S. High School diploma and transcripts showing you attended a U.S. school for at least 2 years
  • 24 hours of transferable credits from a U.S. college, that includes good grades in 6 hours of Humanities classes
  • Official TOEFL scores.
    • Minimum IBT score of 70 (internet based) with minimum score of 14 in each subsection.
    • Minimum PBT score of 523 (paper based) with minimum score of 46 in each subsection.
    • TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to UNC Charlotte. Our school code is 5105.
    • Scores older than 2 years will not be accepted.
  • Official IELTS score of 6.0 with minimum score of 5.0 in each subsection.
    • Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to UNC Charlotte.
    • Scores older than 2 years will not be accepted.
  • Completion of our ELTI program and test scores received from the ELTI office

3. Official Transcripts and Foreign Credential Evaluation of Transfer Credit

  • U.S. Colleges - Submit an official transcript for every school you have attended. You do not need a credential evaluation for U.S. schools.
  • Foreign Universities and Colleges - Submit an official course-by-course credential evaluation for every school you have attended. You will need to send your official foreign records to an evaluation company. The company will then send us a copy of your transcripts and an evaluation, converting your foreign grades to their U.S. equivalent. We recommend using IEEEducational Perspectives, or ECE for the evaluation.

  • If you are still enrolled at a college or university at the time of application, you must send an updated credential evaluation prior to your enrollment at UNC Charlotte.
