Freshman Admission Requirements

International freshman students will need to submit the following to be reviewed for admission at UNC Charlotte.

    • Scores older than 2 years will not be accepted.
  • Official IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.0 in each subsection.
    • Scores must be sent directly from the testing ageny to UNC Charlotte.
    • Scores older than 2 years will not be accepted.

3. Official School Records and Foreign Credential Evaluation

  • U.S. High School Graduates - Please send us a copy of your high school transcripts. You do not need to complete a credential evaluation. Students who did not complete all four years of high school in the U.S. may be asked to provide a credential evaluation of coursework performed outside of the U.S. For more information on the criteria used to determine admission, please review the Freshman Admissions Requirements.
  • Foreign Secondary School Graduates - Submit an official course-by-course credential evaluation for every school you have attended. You will need to send your official foreign records to an evaluation company. The company will then send us a copy of your transcripts and an evaluation, converting your foreign grades to their US equivalent and provide an overall Grade Point Average. We recommend using IEEEducational Perspectives, or ECE for the evaluation. (Please note: Please be aware WES does not offer a course-by-course evaluation for high school records and does not include high school information with a college credit evaluation.  For these reasons, WES evaluations do not meet our evaluation requirements.  There is a good chance we will request a new evaluation if you submit a WES evaluation to our office.)
    • We recommend completion of 4 courses of English (or your native language), 4 courses of Mathematics, 3 courses of Science, 2 courses of History/Social Science, and 2 courses of the same Foreign Language (which may be English). Note that some programs (majors) are competitive.
    • If you are still completing your high school education at the time of application, you must send an updated credential evaluation confirming that you have graduated prior to your enrollment at UNC Charlotte.
  • If you have taken any college coursework, please apply as a transfer student.

4. SAT or ACT score

  • U.S. high school graduates will need to submit an official SAT or ACTexam score. The SAT code is 5105 and the ACT code is 3163.
  • Foreign high school graduates do not need to submit official SAT or ACT exam score
