Conditional Admission

Applying for conditional admission

Freshmen and transfer applicants who are unable to meet the English proficiency requirements are eligible to apply for conditional admission.
 
  • To be considered, you must meet all admission requirements for the university or your intended major, except providing proof of English proficiency. 
  • You must apply for the English Language Training Institute (ELTI) after completing your application to UNC Charlotte.
    • Once you have successfully passed Level 6 (earn grades C or better in the Reading/Writing, Listening/Speaking and Academic Language), you can complete your enrollment into UNC Charlotte and begin taking classes in your major.
    • You can also complete your enrollment into UNC Charlotte and begin taking classes in your major once you meet the English Language Proficiency requirements (TOEFL/IELTS scores).

70 or higher (minimum of 14 in each sub score)

TOEFL Paper Based (code: 5105)

523 or higher (minimum of 46 in each sub score)

IELTS

  • Please contact the test center directly where you took the IELTS test and request that your official test scores be sent to the address below.

  • We do not accept unofficial Test Report Forms from students. An institutional code is NOT required. Test scores must be received by the application deadline.
