Hang Out Spots on UNCC Campus

Hang Out Spots on Campus

If there is one thing that college students like to do when they are not studying, it would be spending time with friends. On UNC Charlotte’s campus, there are a variety of places that are well known “hang out” spots for students. Some of these spots have developed due to their convenient location to classes and others due to their proximity to food and sports.

One of the most popular hang out spots on campus is the Student Activity Center (SAC). In the SAC, students enjoy numerous activities ranging from working out in the gym to playing pool or air hockey in the game room. UNC Charlotte students also spend a lot of time in the SAC food court, where they can purchase snacks or a full meal from Freshens, Wild Greens, Bamboo Cuisine, Bamboo Sushi, Pizza Hut, and Burger King.

The Cone University Center, the community center of the University, is another favorite spot on campus. This building houses a large array of student focused activities and groups such as the Campus Activities Board (CAB), Center for Leadership Development, Multicultural Resource Center, Office of Student Activities, Student Media Publications, Venture, Creation Station, and all student organizations. The Cone Center also houses the Candy Shop, Main Street Market, After Hours, student lounges, and McKnight Hall.

If you are looking for a place to hang out at between classes, you will find large gatherings of students in two main outdoor places on campus. The most well known is around the Belk Tower, which currently serves as the central point of campus. Students can be found near the Belk Tower at all times of the day. There is usually some form of activity ranging from fundraising booths to visits from a local preacher in the community. In addition to the Belk Tower, students can also be found in the shaded area between the Fretwell and Friday buildings. There are numerous classes held in these buildings, so it a natural meeting space for students traveling to and from class each day.

As you walk around campus, it is easy to identify the favorite places students like to meet and hang out at UNC Charlotte. Other hang out spots that aren’t as noticeable are the Prospector Café, Ritazza’s Café, the patio outside of the University Bookstore, the common areas in residence halls, and the patio outside of the Residence Dining Hall (RDH). No matter what type of hang out location you are looking for, the chances are great that you will find it at UNC Charlotte!
