Lamarra Currie
Lamarra Currie is a psychology major from Apex, NC. She was attracted to UNC Charlotte because the university had everything she needed from an academic standpoint, along with a wonderful opportunity for growth as a member of the Track & Field team. Coming from a small town, she felt like being in Charlotte would be a great change for her.
She is a sprinter who has competed at the NCAA Regional and National Championships in her respective events, and has helped lead the women's team to three consecutive conference titles in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Lamarra was also named the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Track Performer and Student Athlete of the Year. She also earned her first ESPN the Magazine Academic First-Team All-American Award this year.
When Lamarra isn't busy with her track commitment, she has dedicated her time to the Black Student Union as a freshman representative and publicity chair. She is also a member of Psi Chi and the P.I.L.O.T program and assists Dr. Steven Rogelberg with research in the psychology field.
